Our pastor

Pastor Austin Thom and his wife, Jackie

Pastor Austin Thom leads The Potter's House of Sparks with his wife, Jackie, by his side. They love Jesus, they love their three children, and they love the people of this city.

Pastor Austin preaches the Bible plainly and practically. Jackie has a heart for people and makes everyone feel at home. Together they serve a church where new believers are discipled, families are strengthened, and leaders are raised up.

If you visit on a Sunday, you will likely meet them both. They would love to hear your story.

Our vision

Six convictions that shape our church

These come straight from the Bible and from the legacy of The Potter's House Christian Fellowship.

01 · Evangelism

The gospel goes outside the building.

Jesus told His followers to share the good news with every person. Personal witness and outreach in Sparks are part of who we are.Mark 16:15

02 · Conversion

Lives are truly changed.

We preach for a decision because the gospel saves and transforms people. Lives are still being changed through this ministry.2 Corinthians 5:17

03 · The local church

God works through local churches.

The local church is how God grows, equips, and sends His people. Committing to a church family changes everything.Ephesians 1:22–23

04 · Discipleship

Following Jesus is a walk we take together.

Jesus called us to make disciples. We train and equip believers for real life and lasting faith.Matthew 28:19–20

05 · Church planting

Disciples become leaders.

Trained men and their families are sent out to plant new churches. Churches like ours in Sparks exist because of this vision.Matthew 9:37–38

06 · World evangelism

The vision reaches every nation.

We pray for, support, and send workers to the mission field so the gospel reaches people in every culture.Acts 1:8

Statement of faith

What we believe

We are a Bible-believing, Spirit-filled Christian church. Here is a plain-language summary of our core beliefs.

One God

There is one true God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God our Creator

God made people for relationship with Him. After the fall, He made a way back through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose again, and is Lord.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God. He gives life, empowers believers, and shapes us to be like Jesus.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

After salvation, believers can receive the fullness of the Spirit, with speaking in tongues and the fruit and gifts of the Spirit.

The Bible

Scripture is inspired by God, without error, and the final authority for what we believe and how we live.

The cross and healing

Jesus' death paid for the sins of the whole world. His sacrifice also provides healing for body, soul, and spirit.

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift. We receive it by turning from sin and trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior.

The Christian life

Believers are called to holiness and devotion, and to stay faithful to God through every trial.

The church

The church is the body of Christ. Every believer has a place in it, and its mission is to make disciples of all nations.

Baptism and communion

Water baptism is a public sign of new life in Christ. The Lord's Supper remembers His death until He comes.

Christ's return

Jesus will return bodily. The dead will be raised, and every person will stand before God.
